As you know, I am a Gypsy by birth. I was adopted into a Hawaiian/Apache family by marriage... mine... to my life partner Maria. This life... the great journey of love, has taken me many places, and I have found myself honored to be with you, and indigenous Elders of many traditions.

In March 2008, during our annual HawkWind Way ceremony in Keaau, HI, with all the relatives of heart community, I began a very special initiation... one of being Southern Gatekeeper for the Kanaka Moali Wahine... the women's society of the Kahuna.

On this very special day... Grandfather Ten Bear's birthday... I received my turtle tattoo from Aunty Leila, with Aunty Pahia and Maria dancing the Guardian's hula to honor my life transition.

But I get ahead. First I had to receive a sign from the Ocean Spirits that this was okay. A sea snake came out of the reef as Pahia, Maria and I gave offering. A powerful omen for Aunty Leila, who is a Tahitian Tattoo Kumu (she teaches the teachers).

From this flowed the story of the lineage I was to serve, and a beautiful turtle tattoo on my left calf... the leg on which the women walk forward in strength and love.

Another thing came... days... weeks later... a memory. I had been asked... if a Kumu gave me a name, what would it be? I had asked what the Rainbow Essense would be if named? It brought smiles to both Auntys present. A list of sacred Hawaiian flowers was rattled off in pigeon english... and a month later, at home in San Diego, Rainbow Essence was born.

Since that time, it has continued to amaze me with the stories of miraculous healings and manifested love. I hope you will share your stories here with others. Rainbow Essence has truly become the Task that the Kahuna have bestowed on me... to bring back the Ha... the Breath. Breathe with us. Bridge the Rainbow.
