Taanaashkaada
Sanctuary & Preserve is being created by a community joined
together to save a place and lifestyle they cherish.
This community-based organization works to acquire and protect land in
the Sangre de Cristo Mountains for the good of all time.
44 years ago, Grandfather Juan Ten Bears Yraceburu, shared a dream with
his granddaughter Maria Yraceburu, and a group of Yraceburu extended
famly came together to maintain the sanctity of Native American Power
Place sites and from there the Vision of Taanaashkaada was born. Since
then, we've found the land we wish to create our community base upon,
with over 191 acres of land to preserve - we've raised 10% of the funds
required, putting us well on our way to actualizing this vision.
Today,10 board members, and a dedicated
group of volunteers and supporters continue the vision to establish and
run the Taanaashkaada Sanctuary.
