Butterfly Community Garden Mission:
To enhance environmental justice by providing a natural and healthy habitat for a species struggling to exist, by growing that plants using sound environmental practices, and in so doing provide opportunities for community members to learn about environmental guardianship and healthier lifestyles.
How We Accomplish Our Mission:
- We provide a natural and healthy habitat for a species struggling to exist, by dedicating our back acre to growing indigenous pollenators for the preservation and perpetuation of the Monarch and other wildlife at the Yraceburu Ranch. The garden is managed by volunteers who learn the cycles of Earth as we work the garden, harvest herbs and engage in wildcrafting and education. The Garden is staged in the O'hana Sugar Shack and an open space of raised beds, pollenators, and curious horses. The volunteers become a unified action of life.
- We grow the garden seasonally using sound environmental practices by gardening using indigenous EarthWisdom.
- We provide opportunities to learn about environmental guardianship and healthier life styles by collaborating with Yraceburu EarthWisdom on their educational outreach efforts, by offering several educational presentations at The Ranch's events, and by offering easy and supportive ways to clients and community so they are comfortable trying out some ways and concepts that may be new to them.
If you are interested in supporting the the Butterfly Garden & Program by making a donation, becoming part of the volunteer effort and tending the garden or if you have any questions please email yraceburus@gmail.com
