According to the 1st Prayer for Life, we have come into this circle to be all that we can be. As Maria Yracébûrû, an earthwisdom elder, explains: "It's here that we make it, through community coming together in responsible co-creation – a mindful intention. We connect to the Earth and help one another in ancient, all-knowing ways."
The community ideals may appear quaint or foreign but there appears to be an enormously significant draw. The programs and teachings, are about supporting life in every way, and this has build a long existing, and strong community.
"We've watched babies grow," Maria explains. "Children of 2002 are now in college, and we see how they carry a little piece of our history with them as fond memories. We still laugh together – and I hear stories of when I lost the hula-hoop contest during a Butterfly Children's Lodge. Lynda and I believe that sharing the ways we grew up with, has helped these kids have a good foundation and confidence in their relationship to nature, spiritual philosophy, their bodies, and of course, their support team all these years… community. That's our mission here, to impart a lifestyle that grounds and fulfills."
When you come to Community, the challenges of every day life come into perspective. According to the shimas – Auntys _ Maria & Lynda Yracébûrû, it's as simple to re-engage in a joyful, meaningful life, as it is to become calm taking five minutes to breathe and watch and illusive butterfly. That moment, for a second, is connection. Before starting their day, the shimas say morning prayer and send energy to the 4 Directions, to us, for another good day of our lives. It is believed that not only do they help us heal our bodies, but also our hearts. The shimas are from earth - Native American and Gypsy – and frequently magical, definately familiar. Just as honoring ourselves brings blessings, coming to the shimas unleashes joy. For that reason, the Yracébûrû Family, most notably Woody Baily, Kilipaka Ontai and Jason Tucker, became the first Council of Yracébûrû EarthWisdom in 2002. The creation of a nonprofit spiritual organization/church has been revered as monumental, as community began to unfold.
Since the shimas began their life together, many individuals seeking assistance from them have remembered and spoken of the gifts of insight they have received. To many, particularly those in San Diego, the most memorable moment has always been magically charged with love, acceptance, and wisdom. Still active in the mountains, each woman consists of an array of talents – healing techniques, nature connection, divination accuracy, and teachings, ceremony, and other mind blowing wisdom – wrapped up in our shimas' unique and special ways of love.
Traditionally, this community forum, is held in a container the shimas have created by "dreaming reality into being." Many seek out the shimas to become their mentors, the guardianship provided a focal point of intent, a connection the involves highly skilled earth womyn working together as one.
esonkñhsendehí… Our Changing Mother earth, a reciprocol relationship reflects the integrity of a future life. In the minds of the shimas – we're family. "I was taught that if there was an atom in motion, there was life, communication, and consideration," explains shima Maria. "Life matters and we need each other to make it happen. We end everything with and so it is – and so there you go!"
