Fire has long occupied a revered place in the world's cultures. In Greek Mythology it is the gift which Prometheus stole from the gods and gave to humankind, which became the basis for civilization. In Native American ritual, this ceremony works in close relationship to the sweat lodge, the vision quest, the Fire Dance, infact, almost every ceremony of sacred intent.

HOW TO MAKE A LIFE ARROW:
Prepare to go on a Medicine Walk to stalk the power of your purpose. You will want to consider the site you choose carefully. Smudge once you arrive at your destination. Bring tobacco or cornmeal for offering. Quiet and center yourself in your breathing by listening to the sounds of nature... then bring the sound of your heartbeat to join with this orchestration. When the sensation of calm comes upon you like a warm wash, you are ready.
Take a pinch of this tobacco or cornmeal and offer it to the land. Hold it up in the air, and ask the Changing Mother to assist you in your quest for a tool of empowerment. Toss your offering onto the winds of change.
Begin walking. When you see some sticks on the ground (not off a live tree), and you feel compelled to stop, kneel and give offering again. This times to the sticks on the ground, asking if any would choose to co-create a ritual of change with you. The stick you seek out will measure from the tips of your outstretched fingertips to your elbow, and be no thicker than two of your fingers together. Your completed co-created tool will be offered to the fire, and must be dry enough, and small enough, to burn at a timely rate.
Once you have your stick, take it home and embellish it with the expression of your spiritual self. The discovery of this identity is your sacred purpose in life. You can add photos, feathers, string, anything that will burn. Good journey!
