Thank you for considering volunteering your time and dedication to Yracébûrû EarthWisdom. Your contribution of 3 hours (or more) per month is greatly valued and appreciated. During our orientation, you will gain insights into the essential aspects of volunteering with us, including:
Training: You will attend an orientation covering General Ranch & Sacred Grounds Policies, Safety Guidelines & Procedures, and gain an understanding of land relationship dynamics and basic Earth Wisdom.
Tasks: Volunteer tasks at the Ranch can range from space maintenance – - Butterfly Garden, Lavendar & Agave Beds, Aunty's Meditation Garden, and various fairy outcrops - weeding, planting, watering - Trail & Camp Ground Maintenance – weed whipping, maintaining fire zone, lightning & other requirements may apply with seasonal changes. - Medicine Wheel Maintenance – weed whipping, resetting stones if moved, giving offering and walking when service is completed - Water Ways - debris and plant clearing, working to maintain healthy flow
Progressive Involvement: Once you’ve completed an initial 12 hours of service, you will have the opportunity to participate in our hands-on Helping Hooves equine therapy training program. Additionally, you can choose to assist with social media or Apothecary Store.
Physical Requirements: Please note that the physical demands at the ranch include lifting at least 25 pounds, pulling loaded rubbish carts, walking across our acres of uneven terrain unassisted, and being on your feet for a minimum of 3 hours. If you have physical limitations, such as a bad back, shoulder, or knee, this role may not be suitable for you.
Skill Development: Shima Maria and Linda usually are not around when you work so you may take advantage of the sacred nature of service to the land, however, they also offer free education as to why we are doing what we do, and spend time with us in seasons of change and beginning orientation. Check on our Nature Education for specifics to enhance your skills and allow you to take on more hands-on responsibilities and develop your own practices.
Community & Bonding: Throughout your journey with us, you will forge close bonds not only with other volunteers but also with our incredible animals.
Court-Ordered Community Service: At this time, Yracébûrû EarthWisdom is not accepting applicants for court-ordered community service.
Youth Volunteers: The minimum age for youth volunteers is 16 years old. Minors must have a parent or guardian accompany them at all times when volunteering at the ranch.
Upcoming Orientation Dates: The orientation dates for 2026 are held on the community volunteer days the first Saturday of most months. Check the schedule and email us to let us know you are coming, and we can tell you what to bring!
Orientation/Community Volunteer Day takes place at our ranch from 1 pm to 4 pm. The orientation includes a tour of the Ranch and your first day of work. Please dress appropriately for outdoors (solid shoes/boots, sun protection, layered is best!) It is often more windy, cold, or hot than in town.
Thank you for being part of Yracébûrû EarthWisdom's mission to assist individuals in their quest for greater understanding of who they are and their relationships with Spirit and Nature.
FAQ
What is a typical volunteer shift? Volunteer shifts start at 9:00 am most Tuesdays and are approximately 3-hour shifts. Exception - the first Saturday of each month April-June, and August- October are Community Volunteer Days. Check the Calendar for the next one - these are open community building events.
What do volunteers do at the YEW ranch? The Volunteers’ vary depending on area they choose to work in. Occasionally, there may be other tasks (assisting with events, special projects, etc.). Horses require special training that happens Tuesday afternoons from 3-4:30 pm. Contact Maria.
Do volunteers get to work with the land? Yes! After attending to chores, volunteers may choose to meditate in nature, and get to know the area they have chosen to be in service to in an intimate and spiritual way. We use an online appointment calendar to guarantee meditation space during volunteer hours. Exception is when we work with the horses, or at events.
Do I need prior experience with the tasks at hand to volunteer at YEW? No, we will train you to work safely.
Are volunteers scheduled, or can I just show up? There is a schedule to help make sure we have enough/not too many volunteers on any given day. Volunteers are typically scheduled based on their availability and the current schedule & needs at the ranch, which becomes “their day.” If the day you are available as a new volunteer is fully covered, you may choose to be put on a wait list and will be contacted when the day opens up again.
If I have more questions about volunteering, who can I contact? Please reach out to [email protected]
When and where are Volunteer Orientations, and how long are they? Orientations are held at Yracébûrû Ranch in Ramona and are the full Community Volunteer Day from 1-4 pm.
