Butterfly Garden & Education Program
History of our program
In 2015, while the shimas lived in New Mexico, Linda began working as a volunteer in the program Come Fly with Us. She spent time working functions with the Friends of the Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge as a volunteer, and donar. Her childhood fascination with butterflies prompted her to volunteer for the outreach program, putting monarch chrysalis in schools and then helping with release & continuing education. She was trained by program initiator Debbie Pike from the Refuge. Together with Debbie and the wonderful friends made through this program, Linda has developed the western monarch version of what she was taught, and we share this with schools and families as monarch season progresses yearly in Ramona.
